Los Angeles based Evan Myall Reiss, is the guitarist and main songwriter with psychedelic band, Sleepy Sun, and is known professionally by his first two names. ‘Forever Mine’is the first track from his self-titled debut album, ‘Evan Myall’, which is set to come out May 8, via Royal Oakie.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The song is a laid back guitar piece, with a music video shot in and around LA, focusing on Evan and a bunch of gerbera flowers. Myall tries to give them away as well as he can, resorting to putting them in plant pots on Broadway, and throwing them into the Los Angeles River (with rare footage of the River actually in flow), watched on by a bemused Canada Goose, far from home. Relaxed and evocative, Myall realises that although the object of his affections may have rejected him, it’s not the end of the world – “tonight is forever mine” – this is echoed in the video, where he’s seen giving his gerberas to strangers on the street: an older lady, two younger girls, some random dudes. His love is his own, and to do with it what he wants.<\/p>\n

Evan Myall has spent the best part of the last decade writing, playing, and touring with Sleepy Sun, as well as writing and recording with Fine Points. He takes his inspiration from the classic storytelling songwriters such as Glen Campbell, and George Harrison, and his debut solo effort is clearly just as influenced by the sounds of today as well as that of the past.<\/p>\n

‘Evan Myall’ was produced by David Glasebrook, who’s known for his work with Patti Smith, among others, as well as Nicholas Frances Stein (Fine Points), and recorded at Glasebrook’s studio in the Bay Area. In speaking of the experience, Myall said,<\/p>\n

\u201cWe threw all of our colors at the wall; aspiring to make something wondrous. But within the words and melodies, a darkness revealed itself. So we had to learn how to grow and glow in the dark.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When asked what his hopes are for the album, Evan responded, \u201cI hope people will listen to it and be kind to one another\u201d. What a lovely thought – we hope so too.<\/p>\n
