Glaswegian singer-songwriter Kerri Watt and London based singer Samuel Jack have teamed up to release an acoustic version of Kerri\u2019s 2019 single \u2018Cut Me Loose\u2019. The single will be released on Friday, April 24th<\/sup> on all streaming platforms. Pre-save the single HERE<\/a>. Whilst effectively taking the song back to its roots, \u2018Cut Me Loose\u2019 (originally released midway through 2019 with the delightful \u2018I,Tonya\u2019 inspired music video<\/a>) has been given a fresh look with stripped back production and the addition of Samuel Jack\u2019s deep, commanding vocals. The rock stylings introduced to Kerri\u2019s sound by forthcoming album producer Machine (Fallout Boy, Lamb Of God) have been put to the side for now, and taking their place is the return of Kerri\u2019s Americana-infused acoustic sound. Comparing the two versions showcases the gamut of Kerri\u2019s songwriting abilities, as the track loses none of its moody, dark ambiance upon its translation from hard-rock anthem to mysterious acoustic slow-jam.<\/p>\n

The addition of Samuel Jack was a no-brainer for the track; from their first meeting at a live session in 2017, their mutual respect as working musicians and performers made the duet a simple sell.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got really similar influences which makes working together really easy. I love her voice and style, and her work ethic is brilliant,\u201d says Samuel, \u201c\u2018Kissing Fools\u2019 and \u2018Cut Me Loose\u2019 are my favourite songs of hers to date so it\u2019s been a real pleasure getting involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The vibe of the music mirrors the lyrics, with Kerri explaining that,<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019Cut me Loose\u2019 is about breaking free from someone who\u2019s had a hold on you, leaving all the drama behind and never looking back. The mood is bold, empowering, a little dark and sexy with a dramatic energy. I was inspired by artists like Barnes Courtney, Kaleo, The Black Keys and Ballroom Thieves when writing the track.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The single follows from another acoustic version released this past March of \u2018Kissing Fools<\/a>\u2019. Both tracks (albeit the Machine produced versions) are due to feature on Kerri\u2019s debut album \u2018Chasing Aeroplanes\u2019, due for a 2021 release via Cooking Vinyl. Support around the album version of Kissing Fools released as a single earlier this year has includes Bob Harris and Under The Apple Tree, a live radio session for Laura Whitmore on BBC 5 Live, playlist inclusion on BT Music, Spot plays from BBC Scotland \u2018Another Country with Ricky Ross\u2019 show, and a multitude of BBC regional radio playlists.<\/p>\n

Due to the recent global developments, Kerri is not able continue with her live show plans for 2020.\u00a0 These included C2C Glasgow, The Spirit of Song at the Glengoyne Distillery, Ramblin Roots festival, and multiple UK regional tour dates planned for the summer. Kerri has however been keeping busy on livestreams, doing a themed show of her own (Watt A Wonderful World) every Wednesday evening at 7pm and on Saturday April 4th<\/sup> she played a live stream on the King Tut\u2019s Facebook page as part of the \u2018Sofathon Singalong\u2019 marathon livestream festival, just after KT Tunstall.\u00a0 She has also been recording and releasing performances on her socials and YouTube channel including covers of Van Morrison and Sara Bareilles songs.<\/p>\n

2019 saw Kerri Watt successfully supporting Keith Urban on his sellout London O2 show, plus receiving rave reviews with her stand out performances at Country 2 Country Festival London, Cambridge Folk Festival, Glastonbury, Kew The Music, British Summer Time, Introducing Nashville and support performances including at the Royal Albert Hall & The Palladium.<\/p>\n

Previous radio support and successes include BBC Radio 2 A & B listed solo singles, plus BBC Radio 2 C-list with Embrace as well as Soccer AM and Virgin Radio session appearances with Embrace. Other TV appearances and support have come from Bob Harris, Ricky Ross, Chris Country, Jim Gellatly, Amazing Radio, ITV Weekend TV show, \u2018The Edit\u2019 BBC Scotland, The Sun Scotland, CLASH, Metro, BT Music (multiple playlists for \u2018Kissing Fools\u2019 \u2018Cut Me Loose\u2019), and Vevo, plus spots on mainstream Spotify & Deezer playlists.<\/p>\n
