Native Californian Michael Pinder pulls pain and longing out of every single note in his latest single, ‘Soar’. We hear nothing but his voice in the first few seconds, and it’s filled with pensiveness, heartache, and sadness.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Yet at the same time, there’s strength, and grace, which is amplified by the gentleness of his acoustic guitar playing. It’s emotionally intense, gripping, and enticing.<\/p>\n

The video for ‘Soar’, shot by Rob Fitzgerald, captures Pinder in a beautiful setting – it’s northern California, so it’s raining; he’s not the main character however, he’s merely the narrator, telling the story of a woman’s journey from resignation to overwhelming confidence. She begins the video surrounded by those objects which have given her protection in the past – a stuffed toy, an umbrella, a raincoat, and a card, on which is written a declaration of love. One by one she discards them, releasing herself from the bonds that held her. At the end we see her in the forest, standing tall, her head uncovered, her eyes wide open, and the merest glimmer of a smile breaking out on her face to let us know that everything is going to be alright.<\/p>\n

‘Soar’ is uplifting and gorgeous and will have you hitting repeat as soon as it’s finished.<\/p>\n
