\u201cPURE was who I wanted to be, without the OCD,\u201d says Castro. \u201cIt is still who I am but I wasn\u2019t being totally honest. I had tried to stuff my OCD back down inside me and I didn\u2019t want to write about it. I felt like I wasn\u2019t being true and it was time to address my issues on this record. OCD presents a constant fear and paranoia, so I want \u2018Girl, Afraid\u2019 to be a comfort for people who suffer from it as I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

With this new change in tack, Castro proves that there is strength to be found in vulnerability. Her exquisite lyrical content seems like the song has been taken directly from the pages of her journal, and the result is a song so personal and heartfelt that it is no wonder it took Taylor an album into her career to gather the courage to release it.<\/p>\n
