It’s not too hard to guess that if you live outside LA, South Anderson Street wouldn’t be top of the list of places that spring to mind when you think of the City. Warehouses, chain-link fences, and graffiti are more likely to be seen than beaches or palm trees. But despite all that, it’s a vital neighbourhood with a lot going on in terms of culture and innovation, and it attracts artists of all kinds, such as director Jonathan Zawada, who made the video for ‘The Difference’, the most recent single from Australian electronic producer, Flume.<\/h4>\n

The clip is rendered in split screen, with the right side showing Flume running down South Anderson with some pace, not looking where he’s going, occasionally running into other pedestrians.<\/p>\n

The left frame shows a close up of experimental pop musician, Chaz Bear, aka Toro y Moi; it doesn’t seem that the two screens have anything to do with each other, but soon the screens start interacting with each other, psychedelic images breaching each side.<\/p>\n

‘The Difference’ takes the upbeat and melodic pop of Toro y Moi, and skilfully blends it with the breakbeat stylings of Flume, the end result a gorgeously floaty piece of music. The track Flume’s first release since his acclaimed mixtape, ‘Hi This Is Flume’, which earned the Sydney producer and songwriter a Grammy nod for Best Dance\/Electronic Album. The artist took home the same award in 2017, for his third album, ‘Skin’.<\/p>\n
