Singer-songwriter Bruce Sudano should be no stranger to pop music fans, having written for the likes of Michael and Jermaine Jackson, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, and the late Donna Summer, who was also his wife. The writer of Summer’s hit, ‘Bad Girls’, Dolly Parton’s ‘Starting Over Again’ – which hit the top spot on the US Country charts, and Michael and Jermain scored a Grammy nomination for his song, ‘Tell Me I’m Not Dreamin’ (Too Good to Be True)’. The song was also covered by Robert Palmer.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bruce has become a much sought-after fixture on the Roots\/Folk\/Americana circuit, and balances it with his indie imprint label Purple Heart Recording. He’s released the album, ‘Spirals Vol. 1…Not A Straight Line To Be Found’ on the label, and ‘The Mountain’ is the second single from the album.<\/p>\n

Beyond its mysterious-sounding title, the tracks on the album are held together with honest lyrics, incredible hooks, and above all, amazing talent.<\/p>\n

‘The Mountain’ has a serious message, but nonetheless Sudano is able to bring some levity to the video, with a cut-and-paste animation created by Elliot Mason, that sees him in various situations, including playing guitar on a rock against a brightly coloured background; standing next to, and later climbing, the titular mountain; as a flying bird – with Bruce’s singing face; on a jetski; a diver who is caught by a fisherman…and so on. It’s just as inspirational as it is humorous.<\/p>\n

“Life is tricky,” Sudano has recently said, “I’m here to spread as much light as I can.” And spread light he does, by taking his evocative lyrics, in this case about climbing our own individual mountains, and turns them into a piece that everyone can relate to, with both humour, and love.<\/p>\n
