Opening with a beat that reminds us a bit of ‘Five Years’ by David Bowie, ‘You’re Not The Answer’ by Columbia Mills very quickly shows why the Dublin quintet are THE indie band you need to be listening to. Right now.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The single, set for release this Friday, 13 March, is the fourth from their second album, ‘CCTV’, which comes out 17th April. ‘You’re Not The Answer’ is a melancholic track that conveys with ease the feeling of heartache. You get a sense of someone walking alone, head bowed, slowly making their way along the road. There is Dublin in the song, the cobbled streets, the Liffey, the former mill-houses now turned into prestigious accommodation and offices – including the one for which the band is themselves named.<\/p>\n

‘You’re Not The Answer’ is a song that demands you hit replay – you cannot merely listen to it once and move on – it’s a song which will captivate you and compel you to join in its contemplation.<\/p>\n

Speaking of the track, songwriter and vocalist Fiachra Treacy said,<\/p>\n

“The song was written after a conversation I had\u00a0with\u00a0my mother late one night. She had just lost her 3 best friends that year, all to cancer.<\/p>\n

We talked about\u00a0the hopelessness of watching it happen and about being left behind.<\/p>\n

As we grow up we go through a lot with our friends, birthdays, weddings, the\u00a0births of our children, hard times, good times and then inevitably death. The cruel cyclical nature of life and the indiscriminate nature of cancer.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
