Java, the largest of the thousands of islands that make up Indonesia, is home to the fun and unpredictable Stars And Rabbit, a duo who mix the classic – albeit quirky – style of the likes of Carole King, and The Carpenters (think, ‘Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft’), with modern creative sounds of artists such as Sia – not one to shy away from quirkiness herself – and Little Dragon.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Led by female singer-songwriter Elda, and musical director Didit, Stars And Rabbit’s music has a broad appeal which has found them firmly established in the burgeoning Indonesian music scene.<\/p>\n

Stars And Rabbit were founded in 2011, providing Elda an outlet for her love of music, and was joined by Didit, himself a veteran of the rock scene in Java, who saw something in her that he liked. They quickly released their debut album, followed by a collaboration LP, and two live albums, and their small, intimate gigs, soon found an ardent local following.<\/p>\n

‘Rainbow Aisle’ is the name of their most recent long player, and is a showcase for their talents and musical range, including electro rock, and intimate acoustic tracks.<\/p>\n

Speaking of the ‘Rainbow Aisle’, Elda said,<\/p>\n

\u201cWe usually write about meaningful relationships with life and other beings. We\u2019re admittedly a bit obsessed with a utopian type of existence. I guess that\u2019s why I love music…it makes me feel like anything is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The music video for their single, ‘Any Day In The Park’ was released on February 12, followed by the single, ‘Naked King’, which preceded the album’s release yesterday, February 26.<\/p>\n

The clip is a whimsical dreamlike collage of flowers, animals, and pastel colours. It’s a happy, joyous, FUN song. You’ll smile. A lot.<\/p>\n
