Peppermint Heaven have done it again with the release of their latest EP, ‘Red Balloons’ this Friday, 28 February.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

With vocals that remind us of David Bowie, Iva Davies, and even New Order, and the Pet Shop Boys, the five track EP takes us through the entire range of emotions, from sad and sombre to happy and upbeat. There’s a variety of musical styles as well. Known for their 80s retro sound, Peppermint Heaven have taken a slightly different direction with a couple of songs, such as the eastern vibe in ‘Feeling Stronger’, and the funky, disco, tropical-tinged ‘Into Blue’.<\/p>\n

A nice touch is the Live Version feel of ‘Waiting For You’, which opens to a clapping audience, before taking us on a frenetically paced jaunt.<\/p>\n

‘Red Balloons’ is a great start to the new decade for Peppermint Heaven, who released two EPs last year, ‘New Moons’, and ‘Sunshine Days’. Both records were received to high acclaim and assured the duo’s place in the rich pantheon of retro-styled indie-pop.<\/p>\n

The ‘Red Balloons’ EP follows the release of two singles earlier this year, ‘Make Up Your Mind’, and ‘Waiting For You’, which received praise not just from us, but also from the likes of XS Noize, among others. Fans should keep an ear out for further releases this year, including another with long-term collaborator, Oscuro.<\/p>\n
