Greg Hoy can do it all. He’s a singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, designer, and he’s an indie label owner. He’s released loads of music under many different names and styles, including pop, rockabilly, and heavy riff rock, working on both sides of the studio glass. He tours when he feels like it, jumping into his Airstream RV and letting it take him where he needs to go.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

‘Green’, his latest single, contains the sort of wide-eyed immaturity that is ever-present in his work, and yet he makes it clear that he’s a consummate artist. There’s a livewire, youthful energy to all his songs, but at the same time it’s professional, showcasing his many talents.<\/p>\n

‘Green’ is a wake-up call to Hoy’s listeners to pack more life into their lives. The song is about a girl who is the absolute embodiment of pure joy, dancing, elusive, and beautiful. Hoy brings her to life by way of a track which is literally bulging with hooks, and nods to the like of The Jam, Buzzcocks, and Superdrag, among others. ‘Green’, as well as the ‘Enjoy The View’ EP it’s from, was mostly recorded live, with legend Steve Albini at the helm, and mixed by Sylvia Massy.<\/p>\n

The video sees a woman with striking red hair and a co-ordinating emerald dress, dancing up and down the halls of a Brooklyn hotel. She then goes up to the roof, where she moves strikingly with the skyline of the city behind her. She’s dancing like nobody’s watching; she doesn’t care, she’s got a wild and joyful intensity going on. Meanwhile, in downtown New York City, the band are rocking it out in the Pianos bar. ‘Green’ by Greg Hoy & the Boys makes for the perfect pick-me-up when the worries of the world get to you – a reminder to get up and out and take the world by the short and curlies.<\/p>\n
