Norwegian pop-star AURORA and Idina Menzel\u2019s song, \u2018Into The Unknown\u2019 from Disney\u2019s Frozen 2 has been nominated for an Academy Award for \u2018Best Original Song\u2019 at the 2020 Oscars.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The release of the track marked AURORA\u2019s first Hot 100 position. Written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the track debuted at No.55 on the Billboard Hot 100, according to Nielsen Music. The track also saw AURORA enter the Top 10 on Billboard\u2019s Emerging Artists<\/a>\u00a0chart for the first time last year at No.8.<\/p>\n

Remaining firmly in the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart, \u2018Into The Unknown’s\u2019 popularity has resulted in impressive increases across AURORA’s socials as well as her streaming performance. Since its release, AURORA\u2019s monthly Spotify listeners has increased by 232% – now at 8.3 million, 100k new subscribers on YouTube and 53k followers on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Tom MacDougall, executive Vice President of music at Disney, first saw AURORA perform during an artist showcase five years ago and thought there was something about this intriguing performer with an impressive range that could be a good fit for Disney.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first the character didn\u2019t exist, but AURORA is such an interesting artist. When this character came up \u2014 this voice \u2014 I pitched AURORA. It was a no-brainer. She had to be our voice!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

AURORA voices the \u2018North Wind\u2019 which features prominently throughout the film. Because of the nature of her involvement in the song, she is also credited in the film as\u00a0The Voice.<\/p>\n

In November, AURORA performed to a sold-out London Roundhouse, met with glowing 4-star reviews, and toured Asia for the first time with sold-out shows in Tokyo and Seoul. AURORA\u2019s catalogue has racked up an incredible 1 billion total streams and over 1.2 million YouTube subscribers. Her critically acclaimed album \u2018A Different Kind Of Human\u2019 is out now on Decca Records.<\/p>\n
