Singer songwriter Stray has today released her self-titled debut album. Comprising 13 tracks, the artist has composed her songs from a background of violence and homelessness.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A self-taught musician, Stray uses music as therapy, and says that music has given her a voice when she has had none. Additionally, the album has also been self-recorded, and her incredible talent is evident in every aspect of the album, from her powerful and emphatic vocals, to the skilful lyricism and adept guitar, and piano, playing.<\/p>\n

Stray is more than just a singer\/songwriter\/producer – she puts her music where her mouth is, and uses it for purposes of activism, giving back that which she’s received, having in the past been the victim of homelessness and abuse. Stray is also a farmer who grows food for the less fortunate, and her musical journey has been a part of this as well, buying musical instruments at flea markets, taking them home to learn to play, and write on the farm. She shares this experience with others in her local community.<\/p>\n

Stray’s music is a protest style that reminds us of Joni Mitchell, and Janis Ian. It’s raw and emotive, filled with passion and courage.<\/p>\n
