Just in time for Christmas Ben Sheers presents a seasonal tune that will have you humming along in no time at all, and we are definitely going to be adding it to our annual advent countdown.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Reminiscent somewhat of Oasis, and having more than a hint of The Pogues, and even Manic Street Preachers, ‘The Last Christmas Drink’ is the work of Aberdeen-based musician Ben Sheers.<\/p>\n

A solo singer\/songwriter, as well as producer, Sheers writes prolifically, with many of his tracks available to listen to on streaming media, including Reverbnation and Spotify.<\/p>\n

The lyrics to ‘The Last Christmas Drink’ convey a cold and shivery walk through the snow on Christmas Eve, the singer recalling Christmases past, and dreaming of what lies ahead:<\/p>\n

The lyrics would work equally well as pure poetry, beautifully expressing the thoughts that run through your head as you trudge through the cold winter evening.<\/p>\n

Even without the snow-covered video, which was shot in black and white, further adding to the crispness of the Christmas vibe, the lyrics are enough to conjure up visions of – well not exactly sugarplums, but certainly warm hearths and the hearts of loved ones waiting.<\/p>\n

Add to that the instrumentals, provided by acoustic guitar, with a sprinkling of sleigh bells, and ‘The Last Christmas Drink’ serves as the perfect antidote to the often schmaltzy songs we get this time of year.<\/p>\n
