Shannon Hurley, spent three months at the piano there as she wrote, recorded, and mixed most of the vocals and keys for their debut album. Meanwhile, halfway around the world, band-mate and husband Ben Eisen rounded it all out with bass and additional programming. Their new album and its title track, &#8216;Sugar High&#8217;, is out now.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- EP Link Ad --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\" data-ad-format=\"link\" data-ad-slot=\"4422731055\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2076862002005673\"><\/ins><\/p>\n<p><script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Inspired by the likes of\u00a0Portishead, Moby, Zero7, Air, Ivy, and Massive Attack, Lovers &amp; Poets are likewise not afraid to go their own way: for their next record, they did a surprisingly moody trip-hop version of Duncan Sheik&#8217;s &#8216;Barely Breathing&#8217;, and a bold move in recording a cover of David Bowie&#8217;s &#8216;Ashes To Ashes&#8217; This last track found them added to the rotation on Los Angeles radio station KLOS, and from there people started to take notice, preparing the way for their new album, and its first single, &#8216;Sugar High&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The video for &#8216;Sugar High&#8217; sees Lovers &amp; Poets shot in a dream like quality, they&#8217;re in and out of focus: alone in an almost featureless, overexposed, ultraviolet room. Hallucinogenic patterns and imagery (who is that dancing shadow?) float and flash across the frame. Hurley&#8217;s presence adds a nice twist to the character she plays in the song.
