{"id":50727,"date":"2019-06-20T12:43:34","date_gmt":"2019-06-20T11:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essentiallypop.com\/epop\/?p=50727"},"modified":"2019-06-20T12:43:34","modified_gmt":"2019-06-20T11:43:34","slug":"the-cranberries-team-up-with-limerick-students-for-new-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essentiallypop.com\/epop\/2019\/06\/the-cranberries-team-up-with-limerick-students-for-new-video\/","title":{"rendered":"The Cranberries Team Up With Limerick Students For New Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Cranberries have turned to students in their hometown of Limerick for the video for the single \u2018Wake Me When It\u2019s Over\u2019, taken from the band\u2019s final album \u2018In The End\u2019.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- Random Ad stuff --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-ad-slot=\"3107208401\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2076862002005673\"><\/ins><\/p>\n<p><script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Cranberries approached Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) earlier this year proposing a collaboration between the college and the band.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe college is respected as a highly creative force in the area\u201d says the band\u2019s Noel Hogan. \u201cWe were curious to see what they could create for \u2018Wake Me When It\u2019s Over\u2019 which is very much a classic Dolores [O\u2019Riordan] song \u2013 really catchy with a softer verse and a massive chorus\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c1ine Nic Giolla Coda, programme leader at LSAD, adds<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cthis was an exciting opportunity for a group of students and lecturers from the Animation and Painting Programmes within the School of Art and Design to collaborate and explore innovative ways of combining Animation and Painting techniques.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tom Clancy, an award-winning recent graduate from Animation at the college, was selected as the Creative Director on the project. The concept for the animation was developed through a discussion between lecturers, Clancy and the students. Issues around environmental damage and climate change quickly became central themes for the animation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cA character makes her way through a changing landscape, trying to negotiate her journey while somewhat perplexed by all that is happening around her\u201d explains Clancy. \u201cThis character could be interpreted as representing \u2018mother nature\u2019, through a feminine superhero who is attempting to overcome all that crosses her path. On her journey, she morphs into various animals whose habitats exist between land, water and sky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhen it came to the concept of the video, we gave them free rein\u201d says Fergal Lawler, the band\u2019s drummer. \u201cIt was always important for Dolores that people could interpret her lyrics in their own way. Although the song was not written about climate change, she would definitely have appreciated the video director\u2019s take on the song.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A powerful final chapter in the band\u2019s extraordinary and far-reaching career, \u2018In The End\u2019 was acclaimed on its release in April 2019. Containing 11 songs that were written and demoed before Dolores\u2019 untimely passing in 2018, the album was carefully and lovingly recorded by her band mates &#8211; co-songwriter and lead guitarist Noel, bassist Mike Hogan and Fergal \u2013 with Stephen Street once again taking producer duties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2018In the End\u2019 sees the band coming full circle, with a collection that evokes their very first LP.
