photo credit <a href=\"https:\/\/essentiallypop.com\/epop\/category\/entertainment\/dan-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniel John<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whilst the focus of \u2018The Caution World Tour\u2019 was to highlight Mariah\u2019s most recent record, \u2018Caution\u2019, which dropped last year and is by far in her top 5 albums, there were only a few \u2018Caution\u2019 tracks performed \u2013 album favourites like \u2018The Distance\u2019, \u2018Giving Me Life\u2019 and \u2018Portrait\u2019 were notably absent from the show, and the only actual \u2018Caution\u2019 tracks performed were the title track, the promo single \u2018GTFO\u2019, \u2018A No No\u2019, and \u2018Stay Long Love You\u2019 (during which she waltzed off midway through leaving her dancers to impress). Considering the tour was in favour of \u2018Caution\u2019, it\u2019d have been nice to have a couple more songs from the record\u2026but then again\u2026I\u2019m just being nitpicky as I wouldn\u2019t have swapped any of the older hits for a newer track.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the highlights of the show had to be the #JusticeForGlitter segment. \u2018Glitter\u2019 has always appeared to be quite the stain on Mariah\u2019s back catalogue; the black sheep almost, and whilst she\u2019s always performed \u2018Loverboy\u2019 (I say always because I\u2019d seen \u2018Sweet Sweet Fantasy\u2019 in Manchester and she performed it then), she never performs any other \u2018Glitter\u2019 tracks, and it seemed like such a shame because the soundtrack itself is actually sensational. Thankfully, she wheeled out some of the highlights \u2013 in particular \u2018Never Too Far\u2019, which has to be one of Mariah\u2019s strongest moments in her entire discography,. and which she performed effortlessly. She also gave \u2018Didn\u2019t Mean To Turn You On\u2019 and \u2018Last Night A DJ Saved My Life\u2019 an Albert Hall performance, as well as \u2018Loverboy\u2019. She has the most incredible stage presence &#8211; she has this essence of diva mixed with campness but can strip it right back for goosebump-worthy performances and you can be assured that her performance at the Royal Albert Hall was a spine-tingling performance. Mariah gave a tribute performance to Luther Vandross and performed their duet \u2018Endless Love\u2019 for the first time in years, and had almost half the venue reduced to tears\u202630 minutes later, she was flinging a boa around the place\u2026you can\u2019t match the dynamics at a Mariah Carey concert.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The final note needs to be how great a songwriter Mariah is. I\u2019m happy that during the promo for the album \u2018Caution\u2019, her songwriting was the narrative she and her team were pushing. It\u2019s undeniable that tracks like \u2018My All\u2019, and \u2018We Belong Together\u2019 lyrically are some of the most superb of her work and with that, Mariah\u2019s knowledge of her own back catalogue makes for a really interesting artist, performing a deep album cut like \u2018You Don\u2019t Know What To Do\u2019 seems like a random and risky choice, but the lambs ate it up. Same with the whole #JusticeForGlitter segment of the show; it really serves an idea for the next Mariah spectacle &#8211; a rare B Sides and album tracks show, but of course, with a few singles to close the show because what would a Mariah show be without \u2018We Belong Together\u2019? One thing that cannot be matched is Mariah&#8217;s star power and her shows at The Royal Albert Hall proved that she lives up to all her monikers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mariah Carey is a legend.
