Real life barbers, Jason Cutthroat and Donny Paycheck, are known as “The Sweeney Todds Of Rock”, and first came to our attention back in October last year, with their single, ‘Kill 4 U<\/a>‘. Now the pair have returned, with their new single, ‘Psykik Chemist’, and as you can imagine, their customary style of blood spattered music and accompanying video clip.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Cutthroat Brothers’ sound is characterised by super catchy blues rock sensibilities, and humour. Their USP is their blood-spattered barber whites, which not only suggest they’re sharp musically, but also with their knives. The clip for ‘Psykik Chemist’ sees the brothers off seeking the advice of a healer, who isn’t all he seems. The song tells the story of a man in need of a drug – any drug – to keep him from going even further off the deep end. Their sound is something akin to The Cramps, and The Gun Club, and there’s something that reminds of Mudhoney too, which makes sense given the production was handled by their legendary producer, Jack Endino, who’s also responsible for Nirvana’s, ‘Bleach’, as well as albums from Soundgarden. and Skeletonwitch, among others.<\/div>\n

‘Psykik Chemist’ is the second single from their debut release, and for the clip are joined on stage by badass girl gang, The Creeps, who look like they’ve been kicked out of a Rollerderby game. Directed by Jack Saffle, there’s some vertigo-inducing shots of their live scene, as they play hard and fast for an audience of beer-sated no-goods. In other words, it’s great stuff.<\/div>\n
