SOFI TUKKER\u00a0invite you into their ‘Fantasy’ with their new single and video which are the first taste of the next phase of the group following the international success of their debut album ‘Treehouse’ which culminated in their second\u00a0GRAMMY\u00a0nomination, performance at the\u00a0GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony, and the gold certification of ‘Best Friend’ in the US last month.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In only a few whirlwind years, their music has taken unexpected daredevil turns amassing a passionate fan base across the world moved by the freedom and joy in their songs and their ecstatic live performances. The anthemic ‘Fantasy’ has been an audience favourite at those rapturous live shows. The lyrics and vocal delivery are intimate and introspective revealing a defiant vulnerability that speaks to how SOFI TUKKER have evolved as people and artists since their debut.<\/p>\n

SOFI TUKKER\u00a0is the genre-defying duo of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, celebrated for their inclusive and global perspective on electronic music and their work’s themes of liberation, unity, and self-empowerment. Their debut single, ‘Drinkee’, was nominated for a\u00a0Best Dance Recording Grammy\u00ae, which was followed by a Best Dance\/Electronic Album Grammy\u00ae\u00a0nomination for their debut album, ‘Treehouse’.\u00a0SOFI TUKKER’s\u00a0music has charted on every continent other than Antarctica and in 2018 they had a top 20 hit on US pop, alternative, and dance radio with ‘Best Friend’.\u00a0The group has performed on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, ‘CONAN’, ‘MTV’s TRL’, and ‘Last Call with Carson Daly’.\u00a0SOFI\u00a0TUKKER\u00a0are\u00a0also passionate activists who have raised funds and awareness for Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, and the March for Our Lives.<\/p>\n

Sonically, their egalitarian and global view of music has transcended borders and on ‘Fantasy’ they have achieved a temporal quality by collaging elements of the 90s Euro-pop classics that captivated them with their decidedly modern view of dance music. The group will be giving some more sneak\u00a0peaks\u00a0of things to come and the next phase of their work at Coachella, just ahead of their world tour which will take them across five continents.<\/p>\n

SOFI TUKKER\u00a0enlisted Charles Todd (Scheme Engine<\/a>) for the resplendent and lush ‘Fantasy’ video that brings the song\u2019s themes to life through jaw-dropping landscapes and adventurous styling.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce you have built up a whole imagination about somebody (or something), you may think you have to risk your life and put all your energy into achieving it. But then when you get there, it’s not what you thought it was at all. In the end, it\u2019s all about the journey. That’s what the video is about: we are on a journey to realize our fantasies, and we have to overcome obstacles to get there, but when we finally reach the goal, we instantly get transported to another world.\u00a0\u201c says\u00a0SOFI TUKKER.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted the styling to reflect that we are on a completely different planet. We wanted it to mesh with the crazy\u00a0colors\u00a0of the fantasy world we created. Everything about the styles and\u00a0colors\u00a0and textures all contributes to building this other world.<\/p>\n

We filmed the video in one of our favourite places in the world: Mexico. Mexico has a special meaning for us. It’s one of the first places we ever played and we really resonate with the people and the landscape. We got to go with some of our favourite people and filmmakers, Scheme Engine. We have been working with them a lot recently and they know us really well, so the whole process was collaborative and fun. Also, really physically challenging. WE DO ALL OUR OWN STUNTS!! The funniest part of the acting was probably Tucker flailing around in the water yelling “Sophie! Save me! Sophie!” We had to yell \u201cact less\u201d a lot at Tucker :P.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
