The members of Santa Monica band Cayucas enlisted Sean Solomon, art director of FOX TV show, ‘Lucas Brothers Moving Co’ to make a video for their new song, ‘Jessica WJ’. The track has already racked up over a million Spotify streams since its release late last year, and the video is the perfect addition, underscoring the wit and freshness of the track.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Solomon is more than just an artist – he’s also a rocker himself, the frontman of LA post-punk trio Moaning, who lit up the underground scene of that city with their eponymous debut album last year, and he clearly understands exactly what it is that Cayucas were looking for in a video for ‘Jessica WJ’.<\/p>\n

The song is a tale of missed connection of the romantic kind, and the lengths to which a couple will go to make up for it. It’s got that typical breezy SoCal sound, but on top of it there’s a certain chilliness as well, and who better to harness that than Grammy Award winning producer, Dennis Herring, who has also overseen the wistful nostalgic music of Elvis Costello, and Modest Mouse, among others.<\/p>\n

The clip for ‘Jessica WJ’ is a bright cartoon, fun and charismatic, sheets of flat colour but nonetheless alive and fun. It’s the perfect match for the track, and will have you watching over and over, to see if you can find elements you missed the first time.<\/p>\n
