Shimon Moore, aka SHIM, was the longtime frontman and co-founder of Australia’s Sick Puppies, and as such was the face of a group which refused to be put in a box: their music was an amalgamation of alt-rock, punk, emo, molten metal, throwback grunge, all delivered with a soaring balladry. Now SHIM is going it alone, and his output is no less fiery, and no less stylistically diverse. ‘Crucified’ shows his fans that although he’s left Sick Puppies, he’s still the same SHIM he always was.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The video for ‘Crucified’ sees two SHIMs, in conversation together. One moves at a normal pace, and the other, who may well be a demonic replicant – moves at an alarming pace. It’s hard to say what the relationship is between the pair; friends or foes? Working towards an amicable partnership, or will one destroy the other?<\/p>\n

The song starts with an industrial thumping, and moves on towards an atmospheric bridge, before exploding into the hard rock chorus. Even without the video it’s a great listen and a wild sensory ride. The clip is gory and spectacular, and should come as no surprise, considering director Robyn August specialises in unique horror stories, such as his 2017 film, ‘Doggy See Evil’, which saw a dog pitted against a sinister phantom. August knows his way around music videos as well, he’s been the frontman for LA band, Rival Tides. We see the twin SHIMs faced with the problem of what to do with a body in a sack. They head off to the graveyard, and one begins to dig – while the other has a lethal surprise.<\/p>\n
