Punk folk-rockers,\u00a0The Levellers,<\/strong> are launching a new competition with a five-day studio session up for grabs.<\/h4>\n

Bands and solo artists are invited to try out for the chance to record at their Metway Studios<\/strong> in Brighton.<\/ins><\/h4>\n

It’s the latest in a series of events to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Levellers, who will be performing a headlining show at\u00a0The Royal Albert Hall<\/strong>\u00a0in aid of\u00a0The Teenage Cancer Trust<\/strong>\u00a0on March 31.<\/p>\n

Owned by the band, Metway Studios has played host to acts of the calibre of\u00a0Nick Cave<\/strong>, Royal Blood<\/strong>, Shirley Collins<\/strong>, The Mission<\/strong>, Yonaka<\/strong>, Orbital <\/strong>and\u00a0Sleeper <\/strong>over its 20-year history.<\/p>\n

Levellers, who also have their own On The Fiddle<\/strong> label, have recorded eight of their own albums at the studios in Canning Street.<\/p>\n

They will personally be judging the best of the entries at the end of April, with the winning artist getting the chance to record their music at the studio in August.<\/p>\n

Besides the competition, Levellers have numerous upcoming releases scheduled to mark their 30 years in the business.<\/p>\n

Following up on their Top 20 album\u00a0We The Collective<\/strong>\u00a0<\/i>last year, the band are currently putting out a series of limited edition vinyl reissues remastered from the original analogue tapes by the band\u2019s Jon Sevink<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Some of the albums have never been released on vinyl and each of the band\u2019s original studio albums from the ’90s contain a bonus live album recorded on tour at the time of release.<\/p>\n

March sees the release of three landmark albums on coloured vinyl: the double live\u00a0Headlights, White Lines, Black Tar Rivers<\/strong>\u00a0<\/i>(1996) – recorded at the peak of their popularity – along with\u00a0Mouth To Mouth<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0(1997) and\u00a0Hello Pig<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0(2000).<\/p>\n

Then on March 31, the band will headline and curate A Beautiful Night Out<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust\u2019s week-long residency at the venue.<\/p>\n

Two months later, the band will release a double gold vinyl album celebrating perhaps their biggest achievement, 1994’s titanic Glastonbury <\/strong>headlining\u00a0show.<\/p>\n

Anthems like\u00a0One Way\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>saw the band holding an audience of 300,000 in the palm of their hands – still a festival record.<\/p>\n
