Earlier this year Cafiero thought of and produced \u2018Dr Demento Covered In Punk\u2019, which was then released via the Demented Punk label.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- Random Ad stuff --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2076862002005673\" data-ad-slot=\"3107208401\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><\/p>\n<p><script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The album is a 64 track collection of favourites from Dr Demento\u2019s iconic radio show, re-interpreted and freshly recorded by punk, indie, and alt-rock musicians, as well as some demented takes on punk-rock classics. The two hour long record is also filled with a cavalcade of stars, plus anecdotes from the good Dr himself, in between songs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among those featured on the album are Fred Schneider (B52s), Joan Jett, The Misfits, Shonen Knife, The Dead Milkmen, Rasputina, and many more, including Dr Demento favourite, \u201cWeird\u201d Al Yankovic. Even William Shatner, Adam West, and Elvira, Mistress Of The Night, Make appearances. Not surprisingly then has the album been showered with accolades from the likes of Billboard, Rolling Stone, the LA Times, and CNN.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also unsurprisingly, Osaka Popstar chose to cover one of the greatest, if strangest, songs ever played on the Dr Demento Show: \u2018Fish Heads\u2019, from 1978, by Barnes &amp; Barnes. Originally the track was dreamlike, yet vaguely menacing, but in the hands of Osaka Popstar, it becomes propulsive, celebratory, even anthemic. Cafiero has kept true to the odd structure of the as well as its unearthly, sped-up backing vocals. They\u2019ve paired the track with an animated clip which draws out the humour of the song, and the band\u2019s punk attitude. Dr Demento &#8211; as well as Barnes &amp; Barnes &#8211; even appear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We even have a nod to Bill Paxton, who starred in and directed the original \u2018Fish Heads\u2019 video,and it\u2019s\u00a0been endorsed by Art Barnes himself, aka actor and musician Bill Mumy, who said,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOsaka Popstar\u2019s\u00a0new animated video and rockin\u2019 version of \u2018Fish Heads\u2019 is Bitchin\u2019, Boss, Bodacious and Bold! I dig it Bigly. I can\u2019t think of anyone who could\u2019ve done as great a job! Uhh\u2026 well\u2026 maybe one band!
