Emily Capell is a singer-songwriter from North West London, whose songs are about celebrity lust, musical influences, and adolescence – normal, every day stuff for young people growing up in North West London, in other words.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Yet Emily draws from a much deeper well, with her image which owes as much to Beyonc\u00e9 as it does to Amy Winehouse, Mari Wilson, and girl bands of the 1960s.<\/p>\n

Describing her style in an interview with Fred Perry<\/a> as “Nineteen fifties prostitute”, you soon realise this is someone who is the whole package, she’s funny, clever, and has a captivating voice. It’s no wonder that Emily was awarded ‘Best Newcomer’ at this year’s Boisdale Music Awards. But as she told us, she’s not a newcomer, she’s “an old person”. She’s certainly got an old soul, and with three EPs out and an album set to be recorded next year, Emily is definitely on the up and up.<\/p>\n
