But it goes both ways, and Detroit loves Jimmy as well.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Born in Mississippi, Jimmy&#8217;s adopted home town has thrust its roots deep down into his music: it&#8217;s funky and soulful, and oozing with gospel and vintage R&amp;B that the Motor City is known for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8216;Shakey Ground&#8217; is Jimmy D&#8217;s interpretation of the same song by The Temptations, themselves from Detroit, who took it to the top of the Hot Soul Singles Chart in 1975. It&#8217;s also been covered by Phoebe Snow, Etta James, Fishbone, Delbert McClinton, and many many more.
