It\u2019s the end of our innocence, our youth. Some people are quite old but in the Village Green, you\u2019re never allowed to grow up. I feel the project itself as part of a life cycle.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Somewhat overlooked upon its release in November 1968, \u2018The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society\u2019 is now regarded as one of the best British albums ever recorded. Created in difficult circumstances by a band on the verge of disintegration and who refused to follow fashion, it is an album of timeless, perfectly crafted songs about growing up and growing old, and the decline of national culture and traditional ways. Despite never been included on a release, \u2018Time Song\u2019 was performed by The Kinks at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in January 1973, celebrating Britain\u2019s entry into the Common Market.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- Random Ad stuff --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2076862002005673\" data-ad-slot=\"3107208401\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><\/p>\n<p><script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2018When we played a concert at Drury Lane in &#8217;73 to &#8220;celebrate&#8221; us about to join what was called The Common Market, I decided to use the song as a warning that time was running out for the old British Empire.\u2019 Says Ray. \u2018This song was recorded a few weeks later but never made the final cut on the Preservation Act I album. Oddly enough, the song seems quite poignant and appropriate to release at this time in British history, and like Europe itself the track is a rough mix which still has to be finessed.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ray mixed the track earlier this year and it is included on the new VGPS Deluxe Box Set and Deluxe 2CD. The single version will also be available as a limited edition 7\u201d single exclusively with <a href=\"https:\/\/thekinks.lnk.to\/VG50PR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pre-orders<\/a> of the box set via The Kinks Music Glue official store, and as a digital download single.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The deluxe box set includes extensive sleeve notes, interviews, photography and specially created online &amp; press content \u201ctelling the story\u201d of the album\u2019s production, release and cultural impact. Also included are two essays on the album written by Pete Townshend and renowned journalist Kate Mossman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Launching October 4th, there will be an exhibition at London\u2019s Proud Central Gallery titled \u2018The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society\u2019 which will run until November 18th displaying a selection of rare collector\u2019s items including specially commissioned artworks by members of the band and vintage memorabilia, together with a collection of photographs documenting this remarkable period in the band\u2019s history.
