All-female rock band Witchsister are from Fayetteville Arkansas, and are here to prove that not only is rock’n’roll not just for the guys but also it’s not just for the big cities either.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Stephanie Petet was seeking a creatively stimulating environment, one which women could take to the stage and shine. She proposed the idea to her sisters and cousin, with the plan that by forming an all-female rock band they’d push the boundaries of that genre. Sharing similar taste in music, the group modelled their sound on legends such as Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath, while at the same time taking inspiration from the likes of Rage Against The Machine, and Primus.<\/p>\n

Witchsister aren’t just a rock band however – their songs make a statement. Their latest track, ‘Cat Called’, draws attention to the badgering, and ignorance, that females in the music industry face – they’ve had enough.<\/p>\n

The clip for ‘Cat Called’ reflects the band’s unique edgy lifestyle, with tasteful yet chaotic shots. The video opens with the group walking down Dickson Street, the main street in Fayetteville, and includes everything you’d expect on a weekend night downtown. Bar crawlers come into shot, take selfies with the band, and dance behind them – showing that they don’t take the band seriously. It’s sobering to realise that this is how it is for many women in the music business, one which is predominantly male on both sides of the business.<\/p>\n
