MADI is the performing name of Welsh singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Maddie Jones.

MADI brings irresistible melodies and captivating lyricism to an electro-tinged art pop sound. Self-styled as “weirdo pop”, MADI is experimental yet accessible, drawing from a diverse range of influences from Maddie’s eclectic tastes and her classical training. The sound has been compared to that of St Vincent, Kimbra, and Goldfrapp. Maddie plays a variety of instruments, including keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, and clarinet, as well as programming synths and sampling everything from FM radio to train carriages.

Until 2017, Maddie performed under her birth name, clocking up hundreds of shows, ranging from Glastonbury to intimate house shows for her top crowdfunding supporters. Winning a variety of competitions, Maddie caught the eye of and started working with producer Charlie Francis (REM, Future of the Left, Sweet Baboo) in 2014, with whom she still collaborates.

Maddie took a step back from performing in late 2017 into early 2018, and said goodbye to ‘Maddie Jones’. Directing her sensibilities into production has resulted in a completely new symphonic electronic writing style, embracing both the downright odd and the unashamedly catchy. This is MADI: current, unique, but retaining Maddie’s personal brand of quirk.
