With roots in both Ethiopia and Eritrea, Swedish artist\/songwriter\/producer Bishat writes and performs dark soulful pop, with a deep influence from modern R&B. She has released her debut EP today, 20 April – ‘Q417 (Mixtape)’, with the title representing the 4th quarter of 2017 – when the EP was written – a dark period of her life.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bishat started making music at the age of 13, writing her first song with Jos\u00e9 Gonz\u00e1lez. Compared to FKA Twigs, Tove Lo, and The Weeknd, she was named \u2018Best New Artist of the Month\u2019 by Pigeons & Planes, and\u00a0\u201ca pop star in waiting\u201d by The 405.<\/p>\n

‘Q417 (Mixtape)’ was written during a dark time in\u00a0Bishat’s\u00a0life – the title\u00a0represents the 4th quarter\u00a0of 2017, a long painful moment\u00a0during which her world was falling to pieces. After breaking off her engagement, dealing with a life crisis and having no place to call home she spent her days creating music and her nights trying to forget – the result is a mixtape filled with stories of blurry nights and
\ndestructive behavior, as well as mourning and trying to moving on.<\/p>\n

Today, Bishat has also just released a brand new video for her song, ‘Dream About Me<\/a>\"\"‘. Both the\u00a0 song and the video are\u00a0intimate and dramatic,\u00a0exploring the fear of change in a relationship – that moment when things are uncertain and all the insecurities creep up.<\/p>\n

‘Unholy Romance<\/a>\"\"‘ was written in collaboration with the Platinum-certified artist and producer Damian Ardestani, better known as XOV, and gorgeous, heartbreaking ballad ‘Give\u00a0 Y ou\u00a0 U p’ was \u00a0written and produced\u00a0wholly by Bishat herself.<\/p>\n
