Indie pop band No Alarms are the perfect example of how much drive and dedication pays off when making music. The band was founded by multi-instrumentalist Andrew Boles, and the five piece band, based in Detroit, recently released their debut self-titled EP, with ‘Amateur Telephony’ the second single lifted from it.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

‘Amateur Telephony<\/a>\"\"‘ sends an important message, tackling the strong topic of drug addiction. The video takes the context of drug abuse, with the lead character snorting cocaine at the start of the clip. Using double exposures of the band playing, beneath scenes of a woman partying and doing drugs, the viewer is given an idea of what it’s like to experience her disorientating high. We see close up shots of andrew singing, “Hello…hello…” into an old phone; this demonstrates the struggle faced when trying to get through to a loved one who is battling addiction. The message symbolised by the phone conversation is that even though you aren’t being heard, it’s important to be there for others, and to encourage them to look after themselves.<\/p>\n
