Legendary singer, songwriter and performer John\u00a0Prine will release his highly\u00a0anticipated new album, ‘The Tree of Forgiveness’, April 13 on his own independent\u00a0label, Oh\u00a0Boy Records (pre-order now\u00a0HERE<\/a>). Produced by Grammy Award-winning Dave\u00a0Cobb, the album is Prine\u2019s first featuring new material in over 13\u00a0years.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Recorded at Nashville\u2019s historic RCA Studio A, the album\u00a0includes ten new songs\u00a0written by Prine along with co-writers Pat McLaughlin,\u00a0Roger Cook, Dan\u00a0Auerbach,\u00a0Keith\u00a0Sykes\u00a0and Phil Spector.\u00a0In\u00a0addition to Prine (lead vocals and\u00a0acoustic guitar) and Cobb (acoustic guitar,\u00a0mellotron, claps, kazoo), the album\u00a0features special guests Brandi Carlile\u00a0(harmony vocals on tracks 2, 4, 8, 10), Jason\u00a0Isbell (electric guitar on track\u00a07, slide guitar and background vocals on track 9, 10)\u00a0and Amanda Shires (fiddle and background vocals on track 9, background\u00a0vocals on track 10).<\/p>\n

In celebration of the album, Prine will embark on an\u00a0extensive worldwide tour that\u00a0will span throughout 2018, including a very\u00a0special co-headline concert at New\u00a0York\u2019s Radio City Music Hall with Sturgill\u00a0Simpson (solo) on album release day as\u00a0well as newly announced shows at L.A.\u2019s\u00a0Ace Theatre, Boston\u2019s Wang Theatre,\u00a0Austin\u2019s Bass Hall,Nashville\u2019s Ryman\u00a0Auditorium (two nights) and UK dates\u00a0including an appearance at the Cambridge\u00a0Folk Festival in August.<\/p>\n

The landmark album\u00a0and tour follow a noteworthy 2017, which included an \u201cArtist\u00a0of the Year\u201d award\u00a0at the Americana Music Honors & Awards and a\u00a0Chicago\/Midwest Regional Emmy Award\u00a0for his ‘Chicago Voices’ performance\u00a0with Ren\u00e9e Fleming. Last year also saw the\u00a0release of Prine\u2019s debut book,\u00a0John\u00a0Prine Beyond Words<\/i>, which includes a selection of favorites\u00a0songs, photographs\u00a0and stories from Prine\u2019s beloved catalogue.
