London singer songwriter Hugo Valentine has played the piano since the age of 4 and was trained classically. This early immersion saw him work in many different musical genre, and three years ago started writing in his current style of piano-based pop, with diverse influences ranging from Elton John, David Bowie, Billy Joel, and Queen, to Radiohead, Tom Odell, and Mika, among others.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Hugo’s thoughtful and emotional pop comes with it plenty of energy and excitement. Hugo’s is fully involved in his music, not just writing, recording, and peforming, but also producing it all.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Valentine’s most recent release, ‘Trouble’, is out today. It opens sounding like ‘Slave To Love’ (Bryan Ferry), but it’s not long before Hugo puts his own stamp on the track, giving a sort of 80s vibe, and his vocals retain his London accent, which is very pleasing. This combined with the instrumentation, synths and keys, and strident drumbeat, make this a very enjoyable single.
