To celebrate today\u2019s release of his ninth album, ‘Revival’, Eminem is hosting a pop-up shop this weekend in Detroit. Along with exclusive ‘Revival’ merchandise, Mom\u2019s Spaghetti offers menu items inspired by Eminem\u2019s starring role in ‘8 Mile’<\/strong>.<\/em><\/h4>\n

Located at The Shelter (a music venue below Saint Andrew\u2019s Hall), Mom\u2019s Spaghetti is open from 10 am to 5 pm today and tomorrow, and from noon to 5 pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Last month marked the 15th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of ‘8 Mile’, the acclaimed film featuring Eminem\u2019s multi-platinum hit ‘Lose Yourself’. Winner of the 2003 Academy Award for Best Original Song, ‘Lose Yourself’ includes the iconic lyric that gave the pop-up shop its name (\u201cHis palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy\/There\u2019s vomit on his sweater already, mom\u2019s spaghetti\u201d).<\/p>\n

In launching Mom\u2019s Spaghetti, Eminem\u2019s manager Paul Rosenberg enlisted Michigan-based restaurant group Union Joints (The Clarkston Union, Union General, Union Woodshop, Woodshop Shop, Vinsetta Garage, Fenton Fire Hall, Pumphouse and Honcho). As Union Joints co-owner Curt Catallo explains, Mom\u2019s Spaghetti\u2019s signature dish aims to recreate the dinner made legendary by Stephanie Smith (Jimmy \u201cB-Rabbit\u201d Smith\u2019s mother in ‘8 Mile’).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not the kind of pasta you\u2019d expect if your grandma came from Italy on a boat…it\u2019s more like the spaghetti you\u2019d know if your mom came to Michigan on a bus,\u201d says Catallo. \u201cWe wanted to take something you\u2019d expect and just try and surprise you with the way we do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adds Union Joints chef Vince Baker: \u201cIt\u2019s a totally scratch sauce, but you can practically taste the jar.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dusted with the classic canned parmesan powder and served with toasted garlic bread, Mom\u2019s Spaghetti is available with or without Vinsetta Garage\u2019s beef meatballs.<\/p>\n

The Mom\u2019s Spaghetti menu also features the S\u2019ghetti Sandwich: an item that\u2014unlike the pasta\u2014comes straight from Eminem\u2019s real-life upbringing. Assembled with house-made white bread, the sandwich is grilled up to order.<\/p>\n
