<\/h4>\nEvents like these remind you that the term ‘indie’ represents a very broad church, with multiple sub-genres.<\/h4>\nThe good folks at Indie Daze<\/strong> made sure this fourth festival represented this wide spectrum; from the pop-punk of Bis <\/strong>to the\u00a0grebo of Crazyhead<\/strong>, with ’90s Britpop and baggy on offer from\u00a0Thousand Yard Stare.<\/strong><\/h4>\nThere was indie-acoustic from\u00a0The Wonderstuff<\/strong>‘s\u00a0Miles Hunt<\/strong> and\u00a0Erica Nockalls<\/strong>, thrash-rock and samples, courtesy of\u00a0Apollo 440 <\/strong>and even alternative prog in the shape of Salad<\/strong>.<\/p>\nAnd, while I enjoyed\u00a0The B52’s<\/strong>-style bubblegum of\u00a0Voice of the Beehive\u00a0<\/strong>– back with their original line-up for the first time in a quarter century – there was only one band on the bill I had really come to see, headliners\u00a0The House of Love<\/strong>.<\/p>\nSadly it’s the nature of festivals – and the UK’s \u00a0transport network – that some of those facing long journeys were on their way home before\u00a0Guy Chadwick<\/strong>‘s men took the stage at getting on for 10.30pm.<\/p>\nThe many that remained, however, were not to be disappointed.<\/p>\n
Back at the Kentish Town Forum, the venue where they made such an impact at Creation Records<\/strong>‘\u00a0Doing It For the Kids<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>showcase in 1988, HoL rolled back the years with a set chock-full of pristine crowd-pleasers.<\/p>\nLooking hardly a day older than in their ’80s heyday, guitarist\u00a0Terry Bickers\u00a0<\/strong>is electrifying to watch.<\/p>\n
