With \u2018Underwater\u2019 however he exposes himself and puts down his guitar, revealing a gentler, more nuanced arrangement, which showcases the message of the song. The video for \u2018Underwater\u2019, for which he turned to director Sandy Stenzel, is a cinematic masterpiece. Underwater shots, explosive emotions by the side of a road, and the loneliness of the California desert perfectly illustrate the tale of a man trapped in a life he no longer wants to be in, but from which he can see no way to escape.
