Robots With Rayguns are set to release their new album, ‘Slow Jams’, tomorrow September 15. The 15 track album brings back the 80s with its retro electronic stylings, and is available to preorder now as a digital download, cassette tape, CD, or on limited edition double LP vinyl.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Robots With Rayguns is the performance name of Phoenix based artist, Lucas Patrick Smith, whose prolific output (‘Slow Jams’ is his fifth album) has seen him win many fans around the world. Lucas started the project in 2008, when he combined his love for synthpop, new wave, and modern electro, and started creating his own hook-driven power tracks.<\/div>\n

Quite apart from this Lucas’ other passion was for dance-electro-pop, and in 2009 he took a hiatus from making original music and honed his remixing skills on the likes of tracks by Yaz, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, and Fear Of Tigers. It was his remixes of popular artists including Lady Gaga and Lily Allen which brought him to the attention of music bloggers, as well as from the likes of MTV and KCRW.<\/div>\n

‘Breathless’, the first track from ‘Slow Jams’, is a mid-tempo electronic track, with a sound reminiscent of something between the pattering of rain on the window, and a train rattling down the tracks. There’s a gentle synthy vocal layer interwoven between the beats and thrums, which soothes and relaxes the listener. The second track, ‘All The Way’, featuring the vocals of Leon Monroe, has more of a pop-love song feel, bringing to mind the likes of Prince. ‘Memories’, the 11th track, is more upbeat, yet still retaining the 80s rhythm, added to by the beautiful voice of Carl Gershon.<\/div>\n

‘Slow Jams’ is a very sensual album, and will appeal to not only those who enjoy synth music but also those who like music which relaxes them and can be played in the background.<\/div>\n
