Hard Working Class Hereos 2017<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will open on Thursday, September 28th\u00a0with a targeted networking event in\u00a0The Chocolate Factory<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0This will give international delegates an opportunity to meet with their Irish counterparts and the artists attending the HWCH Music Conference.<\/h4>\n

The night will feature two keynote interviews by journalist\u00a0Jim Carroll<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with PIXIES manager,\u00a0Richard Jones<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and The New Yorker’s\u00a0John Seabrook<\/strong><\/a>, author of ‘The Song Machine: Inside the Hit Factory’.The weekend will see a mixture of workshops, discussions and panels\u00a0featuring some of the most influential industry insiders\u00a0from around the globe.\u00a0With\u00a040 international industry delegates due to attend the conference along with many of the major players in the Irish music industry, the HWCH Music Conference is\u00a0Ireland\u2019s largest gathering of bookers, labels, managers, music supervisors, radio folk and journalists from around the world and here at home.<\/p>\n

As well as the aforementioned opening night keynotes, there are lots of highlights across the weekend including\u00a0keynotes with Rough Trade Records boss,\u00a0Geoff Travis<\/strong><\/a>, about the art of finding and developing talent, and RT\u00c9’s\u00a0Ian Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>in honour of his enormous contribution to Irish music. Ticket touting has been a major grievance for gig-goers throughout the year with attention firmly on websites like Seatwave and Get Me In. The\u00a0issue will be dissected, and it will be asked what can be done to stop upselling and why are so many in the live music industry not prepared to tackle the problem?<\/p>\n

Speaking at the conference will be artists Conor\u00a0Adams (All Tvvins<\/strong><\/a>), Saoirse Duane (Wyvern Lingo<\/strong><\/a>) and Marcus Lambkin (Shit Robot<\/strong><\/a>) in the annual Artists Talk Back panel and there will be discussion about the artist dream team with the managers, PR pros and bookers who work with The XX, The National, Years & Years and Andrew Weatherall.\u00a0Nialler9<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>will host a discussion\u00a0on where music journalism is at in 2017 with\u00a0Ryan Leas<\/strong><\/a>, features writer at Sterogum,\u00a0Sean Adams<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(Drowned in Sound),\u00a0Hilary Saunders<\/strong><\/a> (Paste Magazine) and\u00a0Phil Harrison<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(The Guardian\/The Quietus).<\/p>\n

There will be a must attend masterclass on artist management from\u00a0Claire Southwick<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Fiona McGugan<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0of MMF UK, the world’s largest professional body of artist managers. Also there will be focusing on sync\u00a0with some of the leading film and\u00a0TV music supervisors and delegates will hear from BBC Radio 1’s\u00a0Phil Taggart<\/strong><\/a>, 2FM’s\u00a0Alan Swan<\/strong><\/a>, Today FM’s\u00a0Brian Adams<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Sinead Troy<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0of Yangaroo Music on the why and how of radio.\u00a0Click\u00a0here<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for a full rundown of all the conference events taking place across the weekend.<\/p>\n
