Australian singer-songwriter Josh Reck has had a love for music and performing from an early age, learning to play piano from the age of five, and guitar at 7. He became interested in singing when he moved into secondary school, and discovered Michael Jackson, whose music is still his greatest inspiration, while he also cites Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, and Jason Derulo as influences.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Josh started vocal training and honed his songwriting skills while perfoming as lead singer for several bands. The Sydneysider then took drum lessons in order to improve his songwriting, and he began performing at a range of different live events. He continued to refine his skills over the next six years, and will be releasing his debut EP, ‘Story Teller’, late September this year.<\/p>\n

‘Commitment’ is Josh’s first single, out on July 21. The ‘Story Teller’ EP was recorded with producer Simon Cohen, who has worked with the likes of Justin Bieber, will.i.am, Troye Sivan, and Eurovision star, Guy Sebastian. ‘Commitment’ was recorded and mixed at Sydney’s Studios 301, which has seen Australia’s pop royalty come through their doors to make their albums – including Jessica Mauboy, Reece Mastin, Guy Sebastian and 5SOS – among others. The studios have also been home to international recording artists such as Lady Gaga, Jason Derulo, and Kanye West and Jay Z. Mastering was performed by in-house mastering wizard, Leon Zervos, known for his work with Rihanna, Vance Joy, and Dami Im.<\/p>\n

Josh says of the track:<\/p>\n

“I made a basic demo myself, at home after writing the lyrics and arrangement. Once Simon and I began adding all the various elements and harmonies with what I had, the song started coming together. We got \u2018Commitment\u2019 laid down in just two days!”<\/p>\n

\u201cAustralian pop music has a bright future ahead and I want my music to champion our local artists and help make Australia\u2019s mark on the pop music scene globally. Australian music is pushing boundaries meaning artists like myself have more visibility. If I can contribute to that, that would be amazing!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

‘Commitment’ is accompanied by a high energy video, including a dance routine, which proved a challenge to Josh, who had never danced before. Wanting to fulfil his vision however, Josh worked closely with a choreographer in the leadup to the filming, and now has found a new love for dance, which along with his singing, songwriting, and multi-instrumentation, will push him to the forefront of his genre.<\/p>\n
