Fresh from opening for The Stone Roses<\/strong> at Wembley Stadium, EP favourites<\/a> The G-O-D<\/strong> are back with a new double-A-side single.<\/h4>\n

The band, fronted by Dub Sex<\/strong> guitarist Chris Bridgett, have only been going for about 18 months, but were specially invited to open for the Roses by singer Ian Brown<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n

A childhood friend of Brown and John Squire<\/strong>, G-O-D drummer Simon “Funky Si” Wolstencroft <\/strong>was behind the kit with Brown’s solo band and his CV also includes a decade with\u00a0The Fall<\/strong> and a stint in Freak Party<\/strong> with a pre-Smiths<\/strong>\u00a0Andy Rourke<\/strong> and\u00a0Johnny Marr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Originally formed as a power punk trio with bassist Stuart Whitehead<\/strong>, the band recently expanded to a six-piece with the addition of Riven Seamarks <\/strong>on keyboards,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<\/strong>backing\u00a0vocalists\u00a0Laura<\/strong> and Ellern<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The G-O-D’s June show with the Roses is immortalised in the video for one of the new tracks on the single – and who can blame them, it’s not often you get to open for Manchester legends in front of a crowd of up to 90,000.<\/p>\n

One of their most commercial sounding songs yet, the Byronic sounding\u00a0Mad Bad and Dangerous to Know<\/strong><\/em>, features a\u00a0Charlatans<\/strong>-style keyboard backing, enlivened by\u00a0Bridgett’s siren-like sliding riffs.<\/p>\n

Flip side track\u00a0Goodbye<\/strong><\/em> is a much darker. sleazier, industrial, affair – all dirty guitars and angry chanted vocals – it’s really rather excellent actually.<\/p>\n

Both tracks are available digitally or as a special edition CD, which is limited to 100 copies – all signed by the band.<\/p>\n
