Ragtime sextet Ellis Dyson & The Shambles are making waves for their energetic performances and groovy dance tunes. The band consists of four strings, two horns, and soulful, lively vocals. With their influences ranging from Piedmont murder ballads to old time jazz, they will get you to your feet with their folky single, ‘Circlin’ The Henhouse’.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Originally a duo with lead vocalist Ellis Dyson on banjo and Danny Abrams on sax, they grew over time to become the theatrical string band they are today, and have a strong local following in their home town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band have played numerous electrifying live shows, and their set has been described by radio station WKNC-FM as “whiskey-soaked tunes can easily lead to some foot-stompin\u2019 hootin\u2019 and hollerin\u2019.”<\/p>\n

The video for ‘Circlin’ The Henhouse’ is based in a ballroom, featuring several dancing couples, while the band puts on a stirring live performance, lit with coloured lights. The atmosphere is incredible and is indeed, “foot-stomping”. As well as the stage performance, The Shambles make a behind the scenes appearance in the audience, celebrating yet another great gig.<\/p>\n
