Hailing from Seattle, Washington, Minus The Bear have carved out their own unique place in the world of music over their 15 year career. They have recently released the video for their track, ‘Last Kiss’, which is the opening track on the band’s sixth studio album, ‘VOIDS’, via Suicide Squeeze Records.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The video shows Minus The Bear in silhouette spinning against a pastel coloured background, while flashes of the New York City skyline and artistic designs are interspersed with closeup shots of the band performing. The video was produced and directed by Dan Huiting, who is known for his work for Bon Iver, and Sylvan Esso, among others.<\/p>\n

Huiting said,<\/p>\n

\u201cwhen I first heard Minus the Bear\u2019s \u201cLast Kiss,\u201d I instantly saw the band performing in a new, digital world that would be beautifully surreal and also very geometrically pattern inspired. I think we ended up with a video that represents the band very well, they look and sound great, and we were able to come up with some super rad effects and a piece as a whole that everyone involved is proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Their album, ‘VOIDS’, marks a significant change in the world of Minus The Bear. They returned to Suicide Squeeze Records, and also teamed up with producer Sam Bell for the first time. Additionally, keyboardist Alex Rose stepped up to the bat for more writing, as well as some lead vocal duties. Regarding the album title itself, frontman Jake Snider explained to Noisey,<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you have voids in your life, it\u2019s things that are surrounding you and you have to keep going forward through that emptiness until you reach that next phase\u2026. But you have to write about the shit that you did go through and that\u2019s what this record is about.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

With VOIDS Minus the Bear have emerged from this period of uncertainty as even stronger than before, while holding true to what has always made them unique. We enjoyed the sound of ‘Last Kiss’, and found it reminded us of the likes of Snow Patrol.<\/p>\n
