Back in 2011, after finishing his Master’s Degree in Music Composition, Rob Cimitile moved to Portland, Maine, picked up his guitar, and started experimenting with what he could do with his baritone voice.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As a teen he favoured grunge, but now he expanded his tastes to include more diverse styles. He released his debut EP ‘I Am A Tidal Wave’ in 2012, and was happy for Builder Of The House to be a solo act until he met Elliot Heeschen. The pair had joined a Zimbabwean marimba band, and discovered they shared the same musical loves. Now as a duo, Elliot plays drums, while Rob lays down vocal loops over intricate acoustic riffs, the result being a stunning genre-crossing of instrumentation and ethereal breathy vocals, which reminds us of Fleet Foxes, as well as Northern Irish folk act, runabay.<\/p>\n

Builder Of The House started performing live around the North East, opening for the likes of Pearl and the Beard, and Dylan Leblanc. Their second EP meanwhile, ‘Hourglass’, released in 2015 on sonaBLAST! Records, was gaining traction, receiving features in music web magazines such as Consequence Of Sound <\/a>and We All Want Someone To Shout For<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rob discovered at this time a love for making videos to accompany their music, and some of which have gone on to the international festival circuit, garnering nominations, and first place honours for Best Music Video, at MOVE Music Festial, and Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema.<\/p>\n

Builder Of The House’s first full length album, ‘Ornaments’, was recorded at Acadia Recording Company, with Todd Hutchisen as engineer, while Rob oversaw the detailed arrangements and production.\u00a0\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n

Builder Of The House have found their way across the Atlantic, with their latest single, ‘Evergreen’, having its premiere on Folk Radio UK. They declared,<\/p>\n

“The chorus of vocals is just another element that demonstrated Cimitile and Heeschen\u2019s uncanny knack at pulling together elements that heighten the song still further”.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
