Future Elevators is the new project of Michael Shackelford, following the breakup of his former band, The Grenadines. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Shackelford has collaborated with independent record label Communicating Vessels in the release of his new single, ‘Modern World’.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The name of his project comes from an unfinished song, and is the perfect fit for Shackelford’s dreamy, gossamery pop music. He’s found Future Elevators featured by the likes of BBC Radio’s Annie Mac, who added them to her global playlist, which caused them to have a viral impact on Spotify in the UK and in Canada. Music blog Never Enough Notes described their sound as\u00a0\u201cspace-age dub that is both airy and exciting\u201d, while Atlas And The Anchor waxes lyrical about its \u201ceclectic yet cohesive sound that incorporates dusty folk, blues, forward-thinking R&B and hints of 70\u2019s glam and disco alongside 60\u2019s psych-pop\u201d.<\/p>\n

‘Modern World’ comes with a music video shot in New Orleans, panning around the streets, with the residents dancing to the music, whilst looking to the sky. We see in close-up pairs of eyes flashing over the screen, illustrating how we don’t just see one perspective in our lives, and showing how we view the world. Directed by Chris Lawson, the cinematography and editing for ‘Modern World’ is by Chris Hilleke.<\/p>\n
