Growing up surrounded by music and art, it’s no surprise that Alexander Parsons has decided to follow music as a career.<\/strong><\/h4>\n
Recently releasing his debut EP, ‘Blossom’, the 19 year old electronic artist first became involved with music at the age of 16, playing in jam sessions at clubs. He cites his inspirations as including Skrillex, Owl City, and Lindsey Stirling. The four instrumental tracks on the EP reflect years spent learning piano as well as a distinct funk influence.<\/div>\n

Alexander, from Anchorage, Alaska, says,<\/div>\n

“When it comes to music, I’ve never been turned on by form, or rules, for that matter. If there is an end goal for why I make music, it’s because that’s what I believe God put me on this earth to do. Music is an incredible thing, you know? It can make you dance, cry, jump for joy or put you in a relaxed state of mind. I hope that when you listen to me play you leave the show feeling like million bucks.”<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

‘Blossom’, is a mature-sounding record, the quality of sound belying his years. The title track is a smooth jazz-like number, while ‘Weeping Willow’ takes a more electronic tack. Third on the EP, ‘Echo’, is an experimental-sounding piece, punctuated by high pitched stabs and other synthesised electronic sounds. The final track, ‘Project 500’, is underpinned by a strong keyboard base, with a fast-rhythmed\u00a0beat keeping time.<\/div>\n
