The LP is out September 1<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>st<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> on 100% Records. <\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The follow up to the critically acclaimed \u2018English Electric\u2019 (released in 2013), \u2018The Punishment Of Luxury\u2019 is a daring collection of stylish synth pop and masterful songwriting which will certainly rank alongside their very best.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Written, recorded, produced and mixed by OMD \u2013 Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys \u2013 the album is the sound of a band in their prime.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;On this album we have managed to make beautiful things out of noises and repetitive patterns&#8221;, explains Andy. &#8220;The trouble is, we just can&#8217;t help but write a catchy melody!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The album takes its name from an 1891 painting by the Italian Giovani Segantini and contains everything from the Kraftwerkian \u2018Isotype\u2019 and \u2018Robot Man\u2019 to the blue eyed soul ballads of \u2018One More Time\u2019 and \u2018The View From Here\u2019 as well as more traditional OMD songs like \u2018Kiss Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Bang\u2019 and the synth heavy title track.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Described by The Quietus as \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">not just one of the best synth bands ever \u2013 they are one of the best bands ever\u201d, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">OMD\u2019s influence has become ubiquitous. The xx, the Killers, and LCD Soundsystem\u2019s James Murphy have cited OMD as an inspiration, and the likes of Future Islands and Chvrches show traces of OMD\u2019s DNA.<\/span><\/p>\n<div
