Growing up all over the world, including time living in France, Canada, Australia, and the US, all before she was fourteen, Sarah Lassez is truly a child of the world.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Now based in the mountains above LA, Sarah, whose great grandparents were French\/Polish artists, and who has featured\u00a0in arthouse films such as ‘Nowhere’, by Gregg Araki, has released her debut EP, ‘Paris In Tears’.<\/div>\n

The EP came about after Sarah wrote some songs on her ukulele, and took them to the studio with producer and engineer, Doug Grean. On reflection about the album, Sarah references the motto of the City Of Paris – ‘Fluctuat nec mergitur’ – which in English is translated as ‘tossed by the waves but never sunk’.<\/div>\n

“I\u2019ve experienced a lot of loss in the past years. Paris in Tears is about perseverance, walking through pain and the dark beauty of melancholia.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Sarah’s songwriting began while she was playing alongside Brother Sal as the duo ‘La Belle et La B\u00eate’ (The Beauty and the Beast), at Hollywood’s famous, but sadly missed, Piano Bar.\u00a0Their performances were influenced by her French roots, and her compositions took on a dark, yet carnival-like\u00a0vibe.<\/div>\n

‘Ziegfeld Girl’, the lead track\u00a0from ‘Paris In Tears’, is an up-tempo, deceptively jolly track, which nonetheless tells the sad tale of a dancer in the Ziegfeld Follies – a “disillusioned dreamer”. The lyrical complexity of the track is matched beautifully by the multilayered instrumentation, including clarinet, drums, and other percussive instruments.[space height=”10″]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
