Melbourne’s Ivan Beecroft has recently released the single, ‘Believe’, from his forthcoming album. With a sound like The Doors, and legendary Aussie bands like Icehouse, and The Church, ‘Believe’ is a bittersweet track giving us a gorgeous foretaste of what to expect from his new record.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Always a versatile musician, Ivan started out on the flute, then in quick succession moved to saxophone, drums, and guitar, gigging constantly in various bands, before moving to writing and recording his own music. He pushed this idea even further, and learned how to record, mix, master, and produce his own music, giving him the creative freedom he craved.<\/p>\n

Ivan’s deep baritone voice is itself influenced by the vocals of Jim Morrison and Eddie Vedder, while it’s clear the “retro rock” style of his music wears the stamp of his extensive music collection, including artists such as David Bowie, The Church, Paul Kelly, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and Icehouse.<\/p>\n

Ivan’s music embraces a strong sound\u00a0with a vibrant energy. The track, ‘Believe’, belies the sadness of the lyrics, with the uptempo drums and piano at the start of the song making way for steady guitar and other strings. It’s the perfect complement to Beecroft’s stunning lyrical skill. He paints a beautiful, yet deeply saddening picture of a relationship from the point of view of someone who has been given it all and yet seems determined to throw it all away:<\/p>\n
