Having recently released their debut album, ‘Touch The Ground’, The Chordaes, from New York City, have made it their mission to bring back great, anthemic rock-and-roll. Their latest single, ‘Cry Another Day’, conjures up a mood of despair and loneliness, and is accompanied by a cinematic masterpiece of a video.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist, Leo Sawikin, seeks inspiration in the likes of Radiohead and late era Beatles, and consequently crafts complex harmonies, innovative chord and tempo changes, and combines them with heartfelt lyrics. He is joined in The Chordaes by Ethan Glenn on drums, and Nick Haberstroh on bass. The trio frequently collaborate with keyboardist Max Ventura.<\/p>\n

‘Touch The Ground’ was laid down in August 2014, and was produced by Marc Swersky at Shorefire Recording, on the Jersey Shore. the earliest tracks received strong support from college radio, as well as top rating music websites such as Earmilk and BlackBook. The Chordaes were named the number one New York based alt-rock band of 2015 by Deli Magazine. ‘Touch The Ground’ saw its official release in May 2016.<\/p>\n

‘Cry Another Day’ features cellist and arranger Dave Eggar, whose instrumentation is the perfect counterpoint to Leo’s vocals. The video, directed by Phil Harder, focuses on an angel, travelling around the city, curious, then increasingly troubled, as she encounters hardship and sorrow everywhere. The angel becomes more intensely sad at the darkness of the world. The song is both political and personal, and a powerful ballad in keeping with the current state of the world.<\/p>\n
