Comprising singer-songwriter Matt Burke and his percussionist\u00a0cousin Andrew Barnett, Foreign Architects’ style is an infectious blend of indie pop, with an alternative twist. ‘Poisonous Pill’ has a more psychedelic sound than their previous release, which will be exciting for their fans, and shows their diverse creative influences.<\/p>\n
Matt describes ‘Poisonous Pill’ as “the most ‘me’ song I’ve written”. He says:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThis song is about closing the door on someone, being the only person left in the room, and being totally cool with that. Despite it being our favourite song to play live, (originally) we didn’t get a lot of interest from the ears we trusted at the time in recording it, so the song fell by the wayside a little until Dylan conveyed the potential he heard\u00a0in\u00a0the track and came on board to produce the song for us.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The song is accompanied by a video shot along the Perth shoreline, which has been bleached out\u00a0in such a way as to convey the long hot summers of Western Australia. It’s harsh and bright, and adds to the 60s feel of the song, albeit in a modern setting.<\/p>\n
For ‘Poisonous Pill’, Foreign Architects teamed up with producers Dylan Olivierre and Andy Lawson. The single was mastered by Brian Lacey.<\/p>\n
