Entitled\u00a0Guilty Until Proven Innocent<\/strong><\/em>, the EP picks up from where its predecessor\u00a0They Must Have Seen Me Coming<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0left off.<\/p>\n Acid-tongued lyricist and key songwriter\u00a0Matt Bailey <\/strong>is back with more jingle-jangle tales of lags, losers and layabouts.<\/p>\n Set\u00a0to a deceptively jolly tune, the title track takes a pop at the criminal justice system as the protagonist finds himself on the wrong side of the long arm of the law.<\/p>\n My Alter Ego<\/strong><\/em> is a spiky duet with Bailey\u00a0seemingly having an argument with er… his other self.<\/p>\n Lonely in a crowd, Bailey’s the only one without a girl on\u00a0Boy’s Night Out <\/strong><\/em>– a well observed sketch of preening and peacocking lads out on the prowl ‘on a typical Friday night’.<\/p>\n As its title suggests\u00a0Cynical Old Bastard<\/strong><\/em> is much darker in tone, with a suitably downbeat backing complementing the ramblings of a bitter old misanthrope.<\/p>\n The wry humour is never far away though, as Bailey pokes fun at himself by proclaiming “I\u2019m a rhyme barrel-scraping cynical old bastard”.<\/p>\n Fans of\u00a0Half Man Half Biscuit<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0Sultans of Ping FC<\/strong><\/em> and\u00a0The Shop Assistants<\/strong><\/em> should find plenty to enjoy here.<\/p>\n Bailey says the ‘Braves are confident of meeting their target to fund the new album, set to be called\u00a0Delusions of Grandeur<\/strong><\/em>. but would welcome contributions from fans and labels interested in distributing the record.<\/p>\n \/\/\n
