Formed in 2013, Philadelphia punk rock band, Beach Slang, played their first live shows in June 2014 and released a 7″ EP entitled, ‘Who Would Ever Want Anything So Broken?’ This was was followed up by their second EP in October 2014, ‘Cheap Thrills On A Dead End Street’. Their first long play album, ‘The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us’ was released a year later in October 2015.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Zoom forward to 2016 and after a line-up shuffle, the band is set to release their second LP, ‘A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings’, on September 23. The album comprises 10 songs which, in the words of Beach Slang’s James Alex, speaking to Pitchfork<\/a>,<\/p>\n

“…are the stories of the kids who got turned on to Beach Slang\u00a0by the first album.\u00a0They\u2019re autobiographical, too, but kind of at a remove\u2014I\u2019m not\u00a0that young kid anymore, but I used to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Lead track from the album, ‘Punks In A Disco Bar’, is grungy punk at its very best: jangly guitars and half-sung half-shouted\u00a0lyrics telling of kids who are doing just whatever the hell they wanna do and they’ll think about the consequences later. Accompanied by a slick video shot to imitate a Super 8 film, follows the subjects of the song around town one night, while at the same time we see an old cowboy type driving into the city in his Caddie. The two stories are clearly intertwined but we’re not exactly sure how, but both kids and cowboy meet at the end of the night in an abandoned parking garage. The viewer is left with the question, “What happens next?”.<\/p>\n

Beach Slang are currently in the midst of\u00a0a mammoth tour which has seen them perform at festivals around the world in places as far flung as Splendour In The Grass, in Australia’s hippy heaven, Byron Bay, the Way Out West Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden, and the Leeds and Reading Festivals respectively, in the UK.
